Attorney Derrick West is a sharp legal strategist and respected trial attorney known for his commanding presence in the courtroom and unwavering commitment to justice. A native of Belle Glade, Florida, he brings both personal grit and professional excellence to every case he takes on.​He earned his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Bethune-Cookman University, followed by an Advanced Technical Certification in Paralegal Studies from Hillsborough Community College. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor from the Southern University Law Center, where he honed his legal reasoning, advocacy skills, and strategic approach to complex litigation.​
Attorney West began his legal career at the Public Defender’s Office for Florida’s 15th Judicial Circuit, where he gained extensive courtroom experience representing individuals facing serious criminal charges. His time as a public defender sharpened his instincts, strengthened his commitment to fairness, and laid the foundation for his client-centered approach to legal advocacy.​ He later served as an Associate Attorney at Cole, Scott & Kissane, one of Florida’s largest and most respected law firms. There, he handled cases involving automobile accidents, premises liability, and negligent security actions, expanding his litigation experience and deepening his knowledge of civil defense strategies.​
As the founder of D West Law, Attorney West now leads with a results-driven philosophy, delivering strategic counsel and aggressive representation in the areas of criminal defense, personal injury, and insurance-related claims.
